The general objective of the project concerns the implementation of a Virtual Platform and a Thematic Network on traditional popular medicine in the European and Asian countries. Its overall goal is to promote cultural understanding, respect, peace, and sustainable development through the sharing of common roots and diversity, both profound elements of the heritage, of the identity of the Euro-Asian population.
Specific objectives include:

• to develop jointly ethnographic methodologies, instruments and plans for the implementation of an empirical research, and to define common tools concerning IT&C solutions for the implementation of a virtual platform on Traditional Medicine across the Euro-Asian nations;

• to carry out a study of existing documents on traditional medicine in the various countries and an appropriate quali/qualitative research on general population, traditional healers and PHC doctors about cultural believes, perceptions, experiences and interpretations on the causes of the most common illnesses/symptoms, on the choice of treatment and dosages, on their perception of remedies’ effectiveness and possible negative effect, and on the costs, with women taking a leading role;

• to design and develop a common virtual multilingual platform on Traditional Medicine across Euro-Asian Cultures to make the research’s results available on the web and easily accessible;

• to disseminate thematic information, training materials and research results through publications, workshops and seminars and to make them available also for web multilingual diffusion.
