Traditional Medicine across European and Asian cultures

The proposed project aims at carrying out historical-ethnographic studies on traditional medicine in     the Euro-Asian countries and at creating a virtual platform to share and exchange information using the new opportunities offered by the IT&C solutions. Target groups include primarily the general population, elderly and young people, men and women, traditional healers - including herbalists and religious leaders - and Primary Health Care (PHC) doctors.

Activities include a number of surveys and quali/quantitative investigations at community level on population beliefs of the causes of the most common illnesses/symptoms and on their choices of popular remedies to improve their conditions.

A special role in the research will be assigned to women who, in most contexts, bear the responsibility of family health. The project duration is 36 months.
